Course Outline: Preparation & maintenance of Operation Theatre, Maintenance of Equipment support in Acute Care environment, Sterilization & Disinfection of OT instruments, Infection control policy & procedures, Preparation of patient for OT, Providing intra OT equipment & technical support, Assisting Anaesthetist in handling emergencies outside OT, Ensuring availability of medical & diagnostic supplies, Bio-medical waste disposal, Evaluation of pre & post operative care.

Work Area: Operation Theatre Technicians (OTTs) are responsible for preparing and maintaining operating theatres and equipment, as well as assisting surgical and anesthetic teams during procedures. The Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology course is a prominent program for training in this field. OTTs may also be referred to as “Operating Room Technicians” or “Operating Theatre Assistants” in hospital settings. Their duties include transporting patients, preparing the operating room for surgery, setting up and adjusting surgical equipment, providing technical assistance to surgeons, cleaning and restocking the operating room, arranging instruments and supplies as per instructions, and positioning patients for surgery following completion of the diploma in operation theatre.
